I have a 1988 FLHTP I replaced the primary chain. There was a 76t on and I replaced it with a 76t.
Problem is there's zero slack. It's so tight that the adjuster shoe is a force fit under the chain. Any thoughts.
Are you sure you got a chain with the same pitch(length of the link) ??? Just because it has the same number of teeth doesn't mean it has the right pitch.
Thanks to all. Comp sprocket (while it is the newer style) 25t.stock
Chain pitch: I'm leaning in this direction the new chain is marked 428 both on box and side plates of the chain.( Old chain is Duckworth 5150 ?). New Chain seems to sit properly on teeth, but even though it was advertised as made in USA it says japan on side plates. Poss defect in manufacture. When laid side by side there's less than a full link diff.
