Parts.....Obsolete Stuff
Okay all you EVO lovers...If you've got a line on a part that The MoCo is gonna put on their 'obsolete' list...Get it out there for everyone. The MoCo is getting more and more like the Auto Companies and not providing support to older models. I know that the Cruise kit for the 93/94 FLHTC is on that list...Find one now if you can...It's the single best upgrade you'll ever make...And Ultra easy to do. I adapted one to work on my FLHS...So simple I wonder why The MoCo never offered it for that model.

I know it!!!!!!!! If you've got an older bike (which seems to be pre 2000) then you're gonna run into problems getting certain Genuine Parts. Sure, the aftermarket has some, but not all of what you might need. Especially accessories. You have any idea how difficult it is getting handgrips (one's that ya like) for a bike that has the air reservoir in the handlebars? I had to get Kuryakyn's. The MoCo or their dealers aren't carrying a variety of them anymore. Thank The MoCo that a lot of the new parts still work on the older bikes.

I agree...it's getting hard to find certain items. What's really frustrating is that alot of the chrome items and other custom parts fit 96 and up and of course mine is a 95. But I plan on keepin it cause it's SWEET!!

I only buy "genuine" if aftermarket isn't available. With 125K on my '92, I've found the aftermarket replacement parts have started to outlast the originals. There's nothing special about Harley parts. Also, most dealers don't stock parts for any but the newest models, and I'm not going to wait for them to order something that I need now.

I am looking for a Harley Chrome thunderstar rear mag wheel to fit a 1995 FLSTN with 3/4" axle seems harley doesn't make these to fit the old models anymore, I picked up one on ebay but it's for a newer model with 1" Axle.

I bought my 89 FLTCLA because it was really cheap not knowing about the part situation.(been away for 15 years) Most of the parts I use are after market and still have to cobb a lot so now I am painfully aware of what everyone else is going through. I am in too deep now to give it up so I guess I will have to keep on keepin on.

I'm lucky to have a good dealer, (Ledgewwod HD in NJ) that does thier best to get me any part they can, after that it's off to J&P (they have saved my bacon more than once) and when completly desperate Bike Bandit (Last exhaust pipe I needed for the old '89 - i could only get from them - itlooked right but was off. After spending some quality time in the vise with a large prybar 
all is well and it fits.)
I've found for all of the quick disconect stuff that I want for my old ride, I just Fabricate it. Some parts I can find to help get me a solution and the rest is drawing it out, and getting busy with the cutoff wheel, sawsall, vise and welder on whatever metal it takes.
