Dead evo!
Hotrod, to check the compression, get the engine warm, pull the plugs, ground out the spark plug leads, hold the throttle full open and crank the engine over4 or 5 time without stopping, watching the compression gauge. Oh ,make sure the bike is in neutral as it will make the task much more difficult!!! LOL If the reading is still low try putting a little oil in the cylinder to see if the compression goes up. If it does then the rings are the culprit.
I thought part of the deal is that you have to pay the dealer to R&R the motor.
That's my biggest trouble. They aint no warmin up. Poor old gal's dead. A friend of my father in law is gonna come look at it next week. See if maybe he can help. I can't go too far with it. Got a little one on the way. This is my first bike. I bought it in December, Rebuilt the tranny in January, found out I was having a Baby in February(The misses is having it, I only helped with the fun stuff), and killed the motor in March. Can you hear the violins! She wants me to sell it. It sits in the garage where her new car goes until it's fixed. Got big feet. I'll put em down where, when, and how I want to.
Hotrod, I like these Evo's because they will run no matter how tired and worn the engine is. If you got battery well charged fuel going to intakes and good spark it'll go ( kind of reminds me of the old brits ). You didn't say whether you checked the pushrods for tight/loose. Check for spark? Accel pump spitting fuel in carb? One step at a time, these bikes are straight forward. No manual needed for above mentioned.
Pull the plugs, pop the covers, put the bike in top gear, roll the bike forward until the lifter you are checking is all the way down. You should be able to spin the pushrod and not have any noticeable play in it. Let us know what you find and we can go from there.
