Was just wondering how many FXSTS and FXSTSB riders we have lurking around here?
I'm the 3rd owner of a 1996 FXSTSB I bought Oct '08 with 32k the bike had been wrecked and the original black springer replaced with a chrome unit. After putting 20k miles on it it started smoking last fall (2 bad valve stem seals)
This winter I rebuilt it with KB pistons, SE heads, Andrews EV-23 Cam, S&S lifters, S&S roller rockers, Crane adjustable pushrods, Hand controls from an '07 RK, Black Thunderheader, drive belt, and primary chain. Over the last year I also replaced the 4.2 tanks with 5.0 gal and had it all powdercoated flat black, replaced the primary cover, gear case, coil cover and horn with units from a '99 Night Train and added the big saddlebags, Mustang touring seat, 6" longer than a tall Harley sissy bar since the wife and I love riding it long haul, next will be the front end, either replace it with a stock one or powdercoat and rebuild this one. Anyway here are a couple of pics, they show what it went through to get where it is and I hope to see yours too!
