Question on Indy work
Had a sloppy shifter lever on the transmission so I had an Indy pull the inner and outer primary and replace the part. Bike never leaked a drop before it went in and when it came out it leaks all over the *** end and leaves puddles when parked. Not too god right before a 5K trip.
Indy claims that what he didn't cause the leak and that "Old Evo's" just leak and thats part of owning an Evo. I cant seem to see where exactly it is leaking from and the Indy gave major attitude and claims he will go back in and see what is wrong but not sure I trust a spiteful mechanic as I question his work. He wants me also to wait until other "paying" cutsomers are finished before doing warranty work, at least a week or 2 wait. I leave for my trip in 3 1/2 weeks. He also said he didnt bother to look at anything else while doing the work.
Is it me or is this guy a lame *** that doesnt look out for the client unless they spend big money, most indy shops I've been to treat you like a minion unless you spend big money.
I know opinions dont matter, but would you accept a leaking bike after a repair if it didnt leak before you brought it in?

No, Evo's don't leak. He is BS'ing you and hoping you won't make him fix his shoddy work. He just shiite in his boots. Now, do you want to make him fix it? He screwed it up the first time. You might seriously consider finding another indy that you could trust.
Your mechanic is spouting B.S.
Old Evos don`t "just leak", that`s something he wants you to believe because he is a sloppy mechanic.
Bikes will develop leaks now and then, but this looks like the leak may have been caused during the removal or installation of the inner/outer primary covers.

Evos don't leak when they're assembled correctly with new or good gaskets and seals. The Evo was the motor that changed Harleys from beasts that oozed oil out every place possible to a clean running motor. This was due to better materials, and better machining to say nothing of eliminating dissimilar metals expanding and contracting at different rates and literally ripping the gaskets in half as was common with the iron heads.
If it were me, I would take a good look and see if I could tell where it was leaking. My bet would be that he didn't use a new primary bearing seal and when he r&r'd the inner primary he nicked the seal. Common practice is to tape the splines of the main tranny shaft to avoid this issue. Manual also states that the bearing and seal should be replaced whenever the inner primary is pulled although this isn't always necessary.
Once you have figured out where you believe it is leaking, you can make the decision to fix it yourself, take it elsewhere or wait for him to get back around to it. Knowing what the real problem is is probably most important right now.

Thanks for the input that I expected to recieve! This guy is a piece of work for sure, and I feel that he should fix the leak problem, since it started after he touched it. This is one wonderful reason that I use credit cards for things just like this.
I feel that he will do the repair and get it right or I will dispute the charges on the card, and also get it done by this weekend. Sad thing is that I have the money to go elsewhere for the repair, but I feel this guy needs to repair it!!!
It is sad that some people cant just honor thier work by just doing the right thing to begin with!

BTW I will be checking for the leak tonight to see what it is, he is closed on Mondays so Tuesday might suck for him.

To find the leak, clean the area back there really well. Lots of 409 or engine degreaser, water hose, etc. It should be completely clean and dry. Then start the bike and look under there (not easy) and find where the oil is coming from. If you can point to the leak, he will probably fix it. Or, just write your loss off and find someone better to do it, which is probably your best bet in the long run.
Good advice Dr. Hess, he is trying to say my tranny is now leaking and thats dam funny. I will see what I find tonight and go from there, I paid this guy $300 to fix my original issue which was done, but I dont feel like paying someone else another $300 to go back in after someone else.
BTW he did offer to have me take it to a local dealer and he would pay the bill, but I dont know if I would trust that even if it was in writing. I do know the service manager at the dealer he wants me to go too, maybe I will talk to him first thing in the moning and see what he has to say?

This guy is probably going to tear it apart and go nuts with silicone/ gasket sealer. What if it starts leaking again? I would want it fixed right. If you are going to dispute it on your CC I would contact the CC company and tell them what's going on. That way it's already in the works if you need them. Yeah he messed it up. Then tells you he will fix "After the paying customers" Didn't you pay also? Only difference is he has your money already. The writing is on the wall.
