fork fluid change question

Default fork fluid change question

i was just wonerding if jacking up the bike is needed to change the fork fluid on my fxstc?

my shop manuel says to jack up the bike but i dont own a jack.

Yes. The fork has to be extended when you take the caps off to replace the fork oil. You might try blocking it up on blocks. I have done that before I got a jack. How ever you do it, it does need to have the front wheel off the ground before you take the fork caps off.

I use simple car jack.You have to lift the f. wheel tiny bit,just enough to
make the tire spin. Then you can do the oil change.

All you need is a scissor jack under the frame, with the bike on the jiffy stand. A trolley jack would be the luxurious way of doing it! Use something between jack and frame to protect the paint. Loosen everything you want to unscrew before using the jack.
