Default 'Springer-king' is it possible...

I love the look of the softail springer front end, but don't want to lose the practicality and of my FLHRI hardluggage and touring frame....

Just wondering if it would be possible to graft a springer front end onto my '96 evo road king. Would the rake and trail be correct? Same headstock bearings and fittings I presume?

Anyone know of, or have any photos of a Springer-king?

If not I guess I should start looking for a heritage springer. Can anyone comment whether they are as practicle for touring as a road king?

Cheers

G....

Never seen one, but it should bolt on. The only thing that comes up is that the Heritage does have more rake than the touring models, so that may be a problem.

As I remember the Heritage Springer doesnt have a rubber mounted engine or a balanced one. I think it would have a pretty good buzz in the frame and bars.

The entire steering head geometry of the touring frame is radically different from the Softail. The Road king has the steering head AHEAD of the forks. This odd arrangement is concealed by the headlamp nacelle, and intended to lighten the steering feel at low speeds on a heavy touring bike. Adapting the springer front end would require some major cutting and welding on the frame to make it work. Anything is possible, given enough time, money and ability, but it won't be easy.
