84's only came in one flavor...natural cases with polished rocker/cone covers...didn't look great in 84. Replacing the polished parts with chrome helps a lot. You can paint it with high temp aluminum paint and then use high temp clear...looks good for a few years.
S100 is the ****. It's a great product! I used some this past spring and my 97 wrinkle black finish still looks freshly painted. It was really dull & faded before that. I'm sold on the product after one use. A lot of Dealers & Indy's carry the product, so it's not hard to find.
about every 2 months or so i spray my with "no wipe mag rim cleaner" , let it sit 10 minutes then pressure wash it. doesnt look show quality but make it look clean and cared about
The 89FLHT was the same. I had very good results with spraying it all down with degreaser and using rags, brushes, etc. to get it as clean as possible. From there, I used Mothers Aluminum mag polish and various 800 and 1000 grit sandpaper, stolen toothbrushes from the Mrs. and the kids ( they had to go but new ones, oh well !) to clean and polish all the aluminum ( Block, Heads, rocker boxes, tranny and primary). Really made a huge difference in the how the motor "popped". Always used Fltz metal polish on all the chrome to make it shine as well.
Also took the front wheel and fender off and started wet sanding with 80 grit and worked up to 1000 grit on the cowbells and the sliders and finished the forks off off with Mothers Aluminum Mag polish as well. Came out really nice, so I did the front wheel and rear wheel's , where the bare aluminum was with Mothers as well.
My buddy has a 95 king and when he saw it, he wanted his forks to look the same. Couple of hours later along with "more than a few" Dogfish 90's and it was all good !

I won't go near my bikes after more than a few Dogfish 90's
