Enlighten me on how a cylinder can spin or move radially, it's pinned for location. Also it would have to have a helluve intake leak if it could move that much. But I'm willing to listen...
In anser to your question, a weeping base gasket is more of an annoyance than anything else. I've been tolerating mine for awhile just carry a rag to wipe.

Iron, you will be fine, ride the bike till winter, I know a couple guys who let their bike leak at that gasket for years although that's not my cup of tea. To replace that lower gasket isn't a big deal, its about six to eight hours of work and very straight forward, good luck and safe riding

It looks like a "ride it till something leaks bad" situation. I really wouldnt worry about it and save the fixing till winter. EVO's are pretty easy to work on, just think of it as a 2cyl aircooled chevy small block, there really that simple.
well its cold here so started taking it apart and naturally broke one exhaust stud on the rear jug. any ideas? usually i weld a nut to it and as it cools turn it out, but this is aluminum any concerns?

Pull it apart, take the head to a indy, they have a tool just for this, unless you feel the need to buy the tool and do it yourself, hope that helps chad
