Default Frustrated with rocker boxes shifting...

Rebuilt the top end on my 94 Evo not long ago. Bike runs great. At about 1,000 miles I noticed the top rocker box had shifted from the middle one. The middle one looked like it had shifted to. Both of the rocker boxes front and rear shifted, enough that one of the seals was leaking. Anyway, it took me two hours to take it apart, and to put it back, this time really torqueing the four bolts down, and in fact it looked as if all three sections of the rocker box covers were compressed down so that you couldn't see any seal, and appeared as if the boxes were all VERY tight. Tonight, after about a 1,000 miles, I noticed the rear cylinder rocker boxes had shifted a little bit again. Not sure what to do about this. The mods I did were 10.1 Wiseco pistons, Andrews ev27 cam, andrews pushrod, lifters, etc. The cylinders are tight, no leaks, it is these damn rocker boxes shifting that if bugging me. Any suggestions?

I would try and use the latest oem rocker box gaskets which happen to be white, I had this problem with cometic rubber gaskets and went to the oem and the issue has stopped, chad

I had to replace the middle part of the rocker covers on a 90 softail I used to have. They were bowed. Happens quite often from what I heard, tho it's only happened to me once so far.

I wish it were that simple, but unfortunately I used new Harley gaskets. You're right, they are white. I appreciate your input, though, and it DOES let me check off one item not causing this. Thanks.

On assembly on my evo, I used the cometic gaskets, and found without even running the bike those things have moved. I realigned them and I hope they stay put, since I am DONE with that part of the bike.

I hope they don't fail and get squriely - I don't want to go in there again!

This is a photo of the shift. Also, I used the original rocker pieces and from the original front and rear positions, which never shifted or leaked for 67,000 miles, so I must be doing something wrong in assembly. Just talked to a bud who told me you must bottom out the bolts on the top of the rocker boxes, not just torque them down. Just bought a fuel line disconnect coupler and will do this AGAIN when it gets here.
