Default swing arm caps

So this year I thought first on the list will be to upgrade my passenger foot rest to something a little better than the setup I got now. My buddy just happened to be working on a 91 flht in his shop so I took a couple pics of what I'm looking for. I think there called swing arm caps or something along that line. So question is I know 91 flh will fit my bike, what year would they change?

Hi Lynn,

Are those photos of your buddy's bike? What does yours look like? The footboard, hanger etc are you show are the same as my bike came with stock. We can supply part numbers if that will help.

Hi Graham, ya there off a 91 flht that he was working on. Basicly I need to know what year to what year will bolt on to my 89 flhtp.
Also is there other maintainance items that are directly related to them that I can change if needed once I pull the caps off of mine. Right now mine are welded onto the caps.

I missed one of the questions, mine do look the same although they don't have the spindle for hanging the floor board arm on, the po welded a chunk of small pipe onto the swing arm cap face and put black silicone to hide it.

The brackets with the floor board hanger are r/h 50584-87 and l/h 50585-87, from which we can see they were introduced in 1987. They were used up to 92, however I suspect the later ones will also fit. They have three alternative mounting holes for the boards and were used up to 2002.

Hey Lynn,

I am looking to do this as well. My bike has pegs and the splined type were only available from 84-86 I beleive and it is not posible to find afermarket. Since I am going to have to remove the swingarm pivot caps I am planning to take this oppertunity to upgrade the swing arm parts with ones recomended in a previos post by Graham. Might be some thing to consider.
