I just took my 11 year old daughter for her first motorcycle ride. She had a blast, and I very much enjoyed having her on the back. Helmet, coat, and a nice 8-10 mile round trip for the first time. We will gradually go for longer rides, but it was a big step getting her on for the first time.
My questions is that her feet do not reach the passenger floorboards. She puts her legs in front of the saddlebags, and they are still 2-3 inches from the boards. Should I be overly concerned? My thoughts are that she would have nothing to brace against in the event things get hairy. Of course, with her on the back it is nothing but a nice easy ride with no sudden moves, but I am concerned nonetheless. What are the groups thoughts on this? Most of our rides will be less than 50 miles until she really gets the hang of it.
Kuryakyn makes a peg mount that mounts up next to the seat. I had some custom bolts made because I hate kuryakyn products. They were 3/8 NC on one side and 3/8 NF on the other. Then I found a peg mount in drag that would fit the bolt.
If you put something there for your daughter to put her foot on she will be more comfortable and be able to go farther before her butt hurts.

I put the Kuryakyn adjustable pegs on my UC, my 11 year old daughter loves them.
She wears a FF helmet, and a reflective vest, gloves, boots, heavy jeans,
She is daddy's number 1 riding partner, it's a great time for both of us!
I have adjustable pegs from Harley on my Ultra - the original footboards are there, and these things are pegs that swing into multiple positions over the boards. They work kinda like the Kury ones, but look better IMO.

I'm glad they worked for you.
I have bought 3 different kuryakyn products and they were all junk. I won't buy any more of them.
My son is 9 and he has the full set up jacket, chaps, vest, boots, gloves and a full face helmet.
I know what you mean about number 1 riding partner.
Yes, I think she should be able to secure her feet. On the simple principle that footboards are fine, can you rig up some wood blocks that are securely mounted on your current boards? I can't think of a way off-hand, but staring at a problem often helps!
