Default breaker tripping/starter ?

When i go to start my 1990 electraglide some times the starter clicks and trys to pull in but then clicks and trips the breaker, is my starter pulling too many amps. Is it possible the starter windings are shorting out, do i need a new starter. i replaced the solrnoid kit once, seemed better but evenually did the same thing all over again. battery is strong

You may want to change out the breaker first. They do go bad after a while.

Sounds more like The Dreaded Click to me. Why do you think the breaker is bad? A cheap replacement anyway. There is no breaker in the circuit feeding the starter motor. Just the battery cable.
