Just a note on the NAPA/Auto Zone/Advance pressure switch. In my experience they don't seem to last as long as the HD switch which doesn't cost much more.

OK. Didn't realize you had a catastrophic failure. Glad you made it through. Guess bleeding the system is a priority now too.

Hey, best wishes to you getting back on the road safely.

Yeah, thanks! I didn't realize that such a cheap, plastic infused part with a plastic seal on metal could cause a complete loss of braking! It was not a gradual loss, just like you described, a complete catastrophic failure that lead to having no brakes at all on the rear. Luckily the front and rear systems are not linked like on some other bikes or I would have had no brakes at all. I still had the front, so I made it home, very carefully.

As for bleeding the brakes, that's a given for sure. Thanks for the heads up though!

Autozone Duralast part number RB401 only $13.49. Works perfect. Insert onto mount, depress brake pedal and hold, tighten switch and go riding!

Yeah, I know this is an old thread (THC wasn't even shaving yet), and it was resurrected more than once, but I just had to comment on the fact that djbiker blew through a stop sign when his rear brake switch failed and he lost his rear brakes.

He should have spent the extra money on front brakes.

Ah, that's what the front brake is for.
