Wierd clutch problem.
Had my 97 flstf in the shop for a new clutch. Got it out 2 days prior to leaving for the R O T bike rally in Austin. The new clutch worked flawlessly until the motor and trans got up to operating temp. Then the fun began. I could not get into neutral while at a red light. The clutch would not completely disengage. Ok I called the shop and he said to bring it back. Not now, I told him, next week when I get back. The rest of the story is when it is cold it is working flawless. Soon as it warms up it will NOT disengage completly. Any ideas as to what is happening to me before I take it back to the shop Tuesday? Thanks fpr looking.
Sounds like maybe the cable is a little loose? How far out is the friction point?
A temporary fix for going into neutral is try leaning the bike a little to the left or slip the clutch out slightly then repull it as you're trying to click into neutral.

The reason you can't find neutral is simply because the clutch has slight drag and probably needs adjustment, simple as that. If you have a lot of slack in the lever, you could try taking some out at the mid-cable adjuster.
