Yes that 0 to ground is confussing cause as i found out the if you have any continuty to ground your stator is grounding to frame. Also you should have some resistance for the pin to pin test, like 0.1-0.5 ohms, you said it showed 0.

It's a greenlin meter...when I touch the probes I get 0000.0....probes open I get OL...pins with the red prob and case with the black I get 0000.0...I've never changed a stator looks like im gonna learn.

Simple test ... set vom. to DC., probe pos. and neg. at battery . Run engine past 2000 rpm., read vom , should read approx. 14 - 15 volts if charging system is ok . If ok your battery is toast . Take battery to any automotive store and have them load test it " free test " so dont let them charge you for the test !

I have been having the same issue, bike died and I just replaced the battery and starter. I didnt even need to ohm out the stator. Its giving me 6.7 V @ 1000 rpm.. thats a pretty dead give away that my stator has gone on vacation indefinitely
