I need some help. Last week my engine and battery light came on along with drop on the voltmeter. Eventually the bike died and I had to push it home. I replaced the battery as it was very dead now and it was 2 years old. Probably due for a battery. After replacing the battery I checked the stator output and it checked out good.
This morning I went for a ride. After about 30 minutes the voltage dropped down to 10 on the meter so I turned around and came back home. After letting the bike sit for an hour or so I started it up and the voltage is back up.
t sounds like the voltage regulator but I don't know how to check it and be sure before I spend $200 for a new one.
Anybody help with that??
Don
One more thing to check is the main power coming from the battery/main circuit breaker, feeding the fuses. I had a bad connection there and it caused the voltage to drop.
There is a method for checking the voltage regulator that involves checking the continuity. Good luck
