Default How much would you pay for?.,,

I'm going to look at a '94 Heritage soft tail w/ 60k on the clock. The pictures of the bike look good, and so does the chrome. I know I'll get a better feel for the bike once I see in in person, but was wondering what others think about the age and mileage.Things that mater to me are tires, battery, and the over all feel. I wouldn't buy a bike that goes down the road sideways, or leaks oil at an alarming rate. But the thought of replacing the motor after a short bit would make me sick. Any thoughts?.,,

60K isn't high mileage on these bikes, in my opinion. If it was clean as a whistle, I'd probably go 6-7.5k. I bought a '91 Heritage brand new and loved it. Saffire blue. One of the prettiest bikes Harley ever made.

I'm sure you know it depends on previous maintenance and current condition, I'd also throw into the mix what are you planning to do with the bike...Fun local bar hopper or something for longer rides?? - If you are planning longer trips I'd look for a lower mileage bike unless this one is something special.

60K is alot of miles and more than the motor can be wearing out, did the PO take care of the wheel bearings, neck bearings, trany, primary, etc...

In today's market, I would not go over $6K unless you really fall in love with it. Saw a thread on the softail forum where a guy just got a 98 softail with 2-3K miles on it for like $7K...there are great deals and lots of garage queens out there if you are not in a hurry..

Got pics?? Asking Price??

6K MAX. The mileage wouldn't bother me: has the cam bearing been changed along with lifters, no leaks, tire wear acceptable, no rot, chrome in decent shape, etc. AND there was some maint docs.

I took a chance on an older EVO from a guy that had no idea what had been done to it: took it for a ride and it was STRONG ! Turned out the top end had been rebuilt, EV 27 cams, adjustable push rods and more.

Good luck: I will never own anything but an EVO !!

This is why i'm keeping mine as long as I can still fix it. It's worth more to me than I'll ever be able to sell it for.

I'm surprised by the lack of support for and reassurance for the evolution motor. There are certainly a few guys in the forum with over 100K on the ticker.

Speaking for myself, On short rides or day trips-(bar hopper rides)-a breakdown is not a huge issue and like I said, there is more to reliability than the motor. But, if I'm taking a long trip with a number of other riders or couples, a breakdown is not only an inconvenience to me, but all the other riders suffer as they will normally wait until the breakdown is rectified in some manner. There is no substitute for new and the next best thing is low mileage. Sure there are planty of strong high mileage bikes out there but for me, when I'm 1000 miles from home I want the newest, lowest milage and best maintained machine I can get.

So, why buy a 60K machine when there are plenty of <20K bikes out there for similar money?

It's not lack of support. It's how much is it worth? 6k plus who knows what else? 60,000 may not be a lot ,but it opens a whole lot of what ifs? What needs to be done? What has been done and has it been done right? All the things that matter to the OP are things that are replaced anyhow. I would worry about compression, charging, bearings, Drive line. Recites are nice but if I don't know who did the work it's just more questions. Even dealerships scare me. Just because it has a HD logo on the door does not mean they are competent.
