Coil blew up!!

Coil blew up!!
Rode the bike yesterday no problem. Went to start it this afternoon to cool down after work and it was running on one cylinder! Checked the wires and noticed one was loose on the coil so I shoved it back on and still only one cylinder! Closer inspection of the coil reveled a big crack down the middle. Could the loose wire cause the crack? If not what could? Old age? Just thinking if I order a coil will I be OK or might I have some other problem that may blow up the new coil?

I could see that a loose wire could cause the coil to fail. You're dealing with thousands of volts there, and those volts want to go to ground. If the spark plug isn't there to take it, well, it will go where it wants to. Like lightning. It goes where it wants to.
