Default Battery brand preferences

Well, after getting a solid 8+ years on a HD battery in the Dyna, I think its time to replace it.. I've had good luck with the HD brand, but does anyone have preferences to one brand or another?

Hi!

Harley batteries are made by Yuasa, you can browse for your needed model HERE.

My Yuasa is 6 yrs old and I'm about to replace it with the same thing. It's not bad yet but I could use a new one in my tracktor so new goes in the bike and used does the lawn...LOL

I'm looking for a cheap online source.

I'd say if you got that good a result from the HD battery and were happy with it then get another one.

I agree with the sentiment of sticking with a product that is tried and true. Good quality, reasonable price...why take a chance? Go with what you know.

Yea, I've been really satisfied with the HD one I have, especially after cooking it with a bad regulator last year.. Who knows how long it would have lasted if that didnt happen... I didnt know if anything had changed in their supplier in the decade(nearly) since I got this one.. I'll take a look at Yuasa, thanks for the input guys!

Remember that Harley is a business, the battery you got 7+ years ago may come from a different vendor today. Batteries are like women, pick one that is more than adequate and you can afford!!!! LOL

The batteries the MoCo sells today are not the same as they sold 6-8 years ago. Those batteries were a lot better than what they sell today, or at least what they sold about 2 years ago, in my experience. "I heard" here on teh boardz, that the ones they sell now are Decca. Did they change to Yuasa again?

Yep. I am over a 100 miles from any HD dealership, but I can go to any of the local metric dealerships and get the Yuasa battery for less money and no travel. Current one has been in the '97 for 5 years: no problems. I do use a tender when it might be sitting for awhile.
