Default Evo - EFI

It's amazing how trouble free an EVO is compared to the Twin Cams. I have both. But I like the simplicity of the EVO, its sound, and its coolness to my right leg. I only wish it had EFI. Is there anyway to install it?

I converted Dr.Linda's Sportster to EFI. She loves it. Not for the electrical newbie, though. Fairly involved.

My dad and I ride a couple hundred miles together each week. He rides a 12' heritage, I've got mine idled down a bit and it just sounds awesome. His has that whirl sound that is almost louder than the engine. Its really all I"ve got to tease him about other than the fact that I paid about 13k less than he did and mines got a few more goodies. Would I go to EFI, prolly not. Cant see the advantage. It sounds better with a carb, no doubt about it.

You have an EVO that is not fuel injected, count your blessings.

The EFI is nice actually...there are some benefits. However, the simple carburetor is hard to beat though. You can do the repairs and upgrades fairly cheap. You can usually make a carburetor work halfass in a pinch. You can buy a new carburetor fairly cheap and install it yourself.

The EFI requires some speciality like expensive tools and diagnostic equipment. Most likely, you're tied to the dealer paying out the $$. There's just alot more stuff to go wrong.

When it is working....I prefer EFI. When it is not working...I prefer carburetor.

An EVO is a simple engine, therefore it should have a simple carburetor.

We live in a different world nowdays....everything is more complicated unfortunately. Be happy you have a carburetor.
