Default Primary Chain

I bought a Diamond Primary Chain to replace the worn out one I had.

My question is - Do primary chains require a break in period?

I can hear it in there and it sounds like it is loose but when I open the access port it is tight.

Has anyone else used them?

The only new primary chains I have had are when the bike was new, so running it in, then when installing my S&S motor, so same ritual. We run tyres for a break-in period and it seems reasonable to do the same with a new chain, for a couple of hundred miles or so I guess.

I don't know if I would call it a break-in period, but they do stretch a bit at first so keep an eye on the adjustment.

I'd guess if the previous chain was really stretched, the new chain might be having a bit of a go getting used to the worn sprockets.

Thanks for the replies.

I guess I will just call it a Harley noise and forget about it.

FWIW, if I listen, I can always hear my primary chain. Just check it after the first 500 miles and make sure it's still in adjustment.
