Navy bootcamp in '79 was a piece of cake. Physical part was much easier than I expected, the mind games were not that bad, hardest part was adapting to someone controlling every minute of your day. Thankfully I knew to expect that, so it wasn't that big a deal. Heh heh, remember the first day, Company Comander (similar to DI) pointed in 3 directions and told us "if you jump those 3 fences, we will pick you up by the end of the day". Then he pointed in the fourth direction and said " if you jump that fence, you will be in a Marine camp. We will leave you there a few days, then pick you up!". Oh yeah, this was in San Diego.

Thanks PanHeadRich. I have seen that several times over already! I figure my contributions to be along the lines of how NOT to do some things.

Hi Billy and welcome to HDF from the UK. I bought my FLHS new in 1990 and like you have owned it since before Mrs B and I met. Bikes are a common interest and I courted her on my 'ole lady'!

You're with great company in here!

Thank you much! We met at an A.B.A.T.E. function, became friends at an A.B.A.T.E. party. We were each with somebody else at the time. A couple years later we were together. A few years after that, we were married. Which just so happens to be 12 years ago today! She is the one thing I would consider giving up my bike for. Of course, it's easy to say that, knowing it will never happen!

Welcome to the Evo section. Like you, I lurked here for a long time before joining in. You'll find the folks in here are a great bunch, dedicated to helping each other keep these classic bikes on the road.

As for me, you can see my '94 FLSTN in my avatar picture. I bought her new in '93 and have put 176,000 miles on her since then. She's the bike I always wanted, and I couldn't dream of replacing her.

Thanks. I am impressed with the help available here, and even more so with the way people freely share their advice and experiences. Nice looking bike. I hope you're weathering those storms ok. Looks like a tough time. I imagine folks up there are about as prepared for a hurricane as we are for a blizzard. We shut down when a few inches of snow are forecast!
