Default Windshield question

My wife has an '89 Custom Softail and it has the small Harley windshield on it for this model bike. However, she would like a larger windshield, something maybe the size of a police bike windshield. I've ridden this bike several times and the small windshield really doesn't do much, especially at interstate highway speeds. As we have both become "elderly", we seem to like windshields more and more. Does anyone know of a larger shield that would fit on an '89 Custom Softail?

Thinking out loud, is it feasible to buy a larger blade and install it on your current windshield metalwork? Should be cheaper than buying a complete windshield. Memphis might know!

Check out the Dyna Convertible windshield - it should mount to the FXSTC, as I *think* that one had 39MM fork tubes w/the same spacing as the Dyna/XL front ends. I've got one on one of my old Sportsters, and it does a wonderful job at blocking. Be forewarned, it will also amplify every bit of engine noise you've got.

Love the windshield, but you do exchange wind noise for valvetrain noise. In the end it's a wash.
