If your motor is mostly stock I would send it back to harley to get it remaned.

I would send it back to Harley even if it was not stock. You get back a brand new engine with a warranty, run it for a year to make sure all is well and then add a cam or whatever. I've seen too many horror stories come out of local indys and the customer ends up spending more than the reman in the end.

Send it in to HD for the reman as stated above they will send you back a motor to the last specs. . Harley had a bad batch of cases around that time as well I believe.

Yep, my 87 busted there too, casting too thin was a problem for several model years. I found an S&S 96" EVO for $4875 delivered brand new in the crate. Bad *** running motor, bolted right in and stood that bagger up with no effort. Got it from a guy in California, he had 111" for like $200 more.

i like the idear of remaned as you put it but it takes 8 weeks to get an engine from the states so from australia to states and back thats alot of missing pleasure another thought was to get a brand new one for from HDs for less than s&s and revtech
had the bike for only nine months ive re done the carby, front forks, rear tyre, lots of welding crackes to the headers and muflers replace all the oil lines and it still leaked ,handle bar rubber mounts, spring on side stand ignition modual, then i found the crank sesnsor had melted the insulation out so i remad e that senser insulated with aroldite and lots more problems will be re quired i must have bean blided by the lookes it was a real ggod looking klunker but not any more it rides so great and the engine is running so sweet it is a real shame it leaks ive clocked 10, 000 kilometers not bad considering all the stress its given me i dont really have any idear of its true history but i am only the third owner gear box also noisy 3rd and 4th gear man it looks good.

I'd invest in some punctuation too.

S&S performs the re-mans for H-D as of 07/11, FWIW.
Why not just re-fit your component parts into an S&S engine case?
They are manufactured from 356-T6 aluminum.
