Another reason that these engines spit out the wrist pin clips is because the connecting rod is not straight.

Tom, you don`t have to hold the piston or the cylinder, because once you slide the wrist pin through the rod, the piston will hold the cylinder up easily due to the piston ring fit in the cylinder.

A homemade clip installer works great (short length of 3/4" copper coupling and a 5/8" deep socket inside of the coupling to push the clip into position), no pliers or screwdrivers to scratch up the piston or clip.

One time I installed jugs, and after the head bolts were torqued, I realized I couldn`t remember if I had double checked the directional arrows on the tops of the pistons after I installed them, so.....

I looked through the spark plug hole and discovered one of the pistons was in backwards...

Mine are both pointing forward........
