Default 80" Evo Build

I have an S&S V80. It sounds pretty good, I am yet to ride it. I am wondering if anyone has ridden with one or knows how well they perform?

Also, I am looking for a solid engine build. I want as much power as I can get without running race fuel and without risking reliability. I want the bike to start everytime....

I've heard of people dropping in a ev27 cam and getting great results but I think I am wanting more power so I am assuming most of you are going to suggest big bore kits.

Let me know what you guys have done! Thanks!

I know of one guy that put a big bore kit on his bike and has regretted it ever since.

As for power I have heard that a Woods W6 with slightly higher compression is the way to go cheap.

If you really want more power there is no substitute for cubic inches.

To be honest I don't know.
He just told me he regretted it.

I didn't ask him any specifics because at the time I rode a Honda and didn't really care.

Oh yes! If you really want to get the most out of it contact an expert like Scott at Hillside Cycle. They are HDF sponsors and their website is well worth taking a look at. They have engine kits for 80" and 89" strokers and I'm sure your S&S motor will be a perfect starting point.

EV 27 is a great cam together with screamin eagle heads and single fire ignition

Are you just wanting to "bolt-on" and not disassemble the engine? HP & Trq gains are going to be moderate if so. I would say 10-15hp if you're lucky.

I'm building an evo right now and I've done a bit of research on the issue but I'm definitely not an expert. What I have done is left the heads pretty much stock. I've put in 155 lbs springs and Manley seals after having the seats ground. I think stock Harley or S&S heads can handle over 100 hp without any valve modification. I put in Crane moly-chrome pushrods. The pistons are JE 9.5:1 at .05 oversize. I'm putting in the Andrews EV-27 cam. While there are hotter cams, I think the EV-27 will give me decent performance across the entire RPM range. I have the Crane HI-4 ignition in single-fire mode. Carb is the the good old S&S Super E and exhaust are 2 inch drag pipes with Thunder monster baffles. While I don't have all of this put together, I think it will be a sound build with significant horsepower while using 92 octane gas.

Sounds like you've done a bit of thinking, but, drag pipes?
