so the chain conversion (hopefully) starts tomorrow. gonna at least get the bike on the lift and start draining fluids / getting the rear wheel off.
anything else worth looking into while ive got the inner primary off? clutch is new, all the seals are going to be replaced while i'm in there....just dont want to overlook something worth paying attention to
yup, ran out of time (working 7 days a week for the past 3 weeks, and got 3 more weeks of this before this job i'm running gets turned over and I get a bit of time off)....more money than time at the moment, so I'm having my indy do the conversion (i just swung by today to snap a couple of pictures).
ended up running a 23 tooth front sprocket IIRC, and a 52 rear. shortens the gearing just a wee bit (a bit quicker coming out of the hole, and wont lose much of anything up top). EK ZZZ chain, something like 14000 pound tensile strength (my indy joked that if i managed to break it, he'd replace it just for bragging right lol)
betcha cant find the master link (its rivetted, I couldnt even find it til it was pointed out to me).
my indy also swapped the output shaft race (apparently on higher HP builds it can actually walk out a bit, HD makes a screamin eagle replacement that isnt tapered, apparently quite a bit more robust). seeing as everythings open, no reason not to take care of it now (same with the main crank seal, also swapped)
never considered it, seeing as ya really cant see the chain once the leather bags are on
They're Progressive 444's
I looked long and hard at a set of JRIs, but for the riding I do (and the fact they were 2x the price I got the 444s for) I just couldnt justify it. They perform admirably paired up with a set of mono tubes up front, although I dont have a ton of miles on them just yet.
PEOPLE HELP HIM PLEASE!!!!!!!!
It ain't ready for a ride. It's missing the points cover & the bags. This is how he terrifies route 1 north of the city.
sigh....
