The pick up takes the place of ignition points .....it's under the round plate on the right lower case.......i still call the plate the points cover

i had this trouble on my bike. it would run great for a while and then just quit. since i was usually riding around town i would walk a few blocks to the nearest bar, have a few go back out and it would start. it was the elec igniton by the rt footboard.
