Wanted to ditch the 3 hole derby cover and wanted the 5 hole is it possible to change primary covers that have the 3 hole derby to the 5 hole primary cover from later year evo's?
I wanted to do that, I'm tired of warping covers and leaking. But someone here told me I would have to change a lot more than the primary cover. I'm sure we'll hear about it.
Yes. The 3 hole warps and it leaks. But I was told I would have to change the inner primary, and then I might have starter issues too. So I mop up every day. But I was noticing when I was at the car wash not long ago, that it looks like the inner primary is leaking around the solenoid/starter, whatever that is with the jackshaft. Whatever, it leaks.

Not sure what you are using behind the derby cover for a gasket but mine hasn't leaked yet. (I have about 1.5 years on it)
I use the 3 hole gasket from Harley. If you are using the O-ring that may be part of it.
Sounds like we have another project here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I use the paper disc gasket. They sold me an o-ring too, but there is no way I can get the thing on, so it went in the trash, just like the oil filter o-ring they pushed on me...don't use one. Anyway, torque is the problem. I just use a driver and tighten it by hand. Another project? Been there, done that, done with it! Doesn't stop it from going down the road.
