If it looks OK and is one owner, your eyes will tell you most of what you need to know about it. It is always worth taking along a friend with you who can look over it as well. If you are dazzled by what you want to see, hopefully he or she will see those things you should see and might miss!

Yes indeed, bike is like brand new. And yes, original owner. aaamax, you responded to some previous posts of mine, we always seem to be on the same page. My gut says I'd be getting a gem. I was only able to test ride briefly last year and wasn't quite sure how I felt with the "feel" of the evo. Both of my previous bikes were later model twinkies. I really like a carbed bike, and my funds are a bit limited with kids in college. I'm trying to get the most for my money, and I've always loved the look of these bikes. My thought is that I will most likely grow into the feel of the evo vs twim cam. Hopefully I won't regret it as I'm planning a cross country ride this year. Any other input would be appreciated, but I think I may be posting pics of her in the near future!

Dont get all flustered because this looks like the deal of your dreams .
Ive been hornswaggold by a few moms and pops .
Throw a few bucks down to lock it in for a few days and then have it assessed as you normally would .
Your choices are ... ride it yourself with appropriate pre. ride tightening of this and that , or spend a few bucks to have a mech. check it out ., or both.
All depends on how horny you feel about this ?!

I bought my 99 Softail Custom 4 years ago off of ebay with 17,000 miles on it. It now has 39,000 on it and runs superbly. If you like the bike I don't think you can go wrong. Even if you have to change out the cam brg. I changed out the cam brg. on mine by myself, and it is not that big of a job. One thing you might do is pop off one of the pushrod tubes to see if it has adjustable pushrods. That would save having to take the top end apart or replacing the pushrods. My gut and the people you say you are dealing with it should be a great bike good for many thousands of miles. Just my 2.

I think $8200 is a bit high, even though it's nice. They're the motivated sellers, they've been staring it at it all season. Even though it may be an easy fix, the bike doesn't shift right...period. The cam's a nice upgrade, and providing the shop is reputable and did it right is a bonus. Check the tires as stated for fine cracks and check the date code of them. Even perfect tires should be replaced after they get some years on them. Check the inside of the tank for rust, just in case.

And DEFINITLY bring someone else with you. Remember that the '95 had the old speedo and controls, if that matters to you. When I used to have a '95 Heritage I HATED that the horn and headlight buttons were reversed since I was used to them on my '96. You'll likely never use the horn but it's nice to have.

MJ, what ever happened with the 95? Do we have closure one way or the other on this beast?

CPBEDOR, Thanks for asking. Probably going to go up on Saturday and give the bike one more "quick-over", then make a cash offer. I think I'm going to take a chance with the shifting being nothing major and not have anything checked out by a tech beforehand. How do you check the inside of the gas tank? I know last fall it started right up and idled beautifully. I'll check the tires out too and use them for negotiating as well if they need replaced. Anything else anyone can educate me on, keep it coming. I appreciate it all. I'll post pics and finish the rest of the story soon.

I actually LIKE the older controls with the high/low beam switch closer to the grip. I use the dimmer probably a thousand times for every time I use the horn. In fact, I can't remember the last time I used the horn.
