Unhappy cam selection for modded decker

Gentlemen, I know of course, it's been discussed here a 1K times already: the cam selection!
And I'm kinda thinking that I'm about to do the right thing, but would like your opinion for this particular case.
So, need to change the worn out cam on my decker.
The bike is being used mostly for touring, long hauls, usually pretty loaded. Sometimes even with a sidecar. The gearing is going to be Ultima 6 speed. I know, I know, it's sacrilegious, the reason for that is: it's a '93 with the lowest stock final ratio, and I enjoy the "bottom kick", don't wanna give it up, but at the same time obviously lacking one more gear on top.
With all this being said, Fireball 300 (or EV13 for this matter) seems to be the obvious choice.
But!
Stripped the engine down, and found out that the heads are ported (quite nicely). Difficult to say if they are shaved also, but judging by the starter struggling and occasional dieseling on cheap gas (no detonation though), I'd guess the compression is also up to 9.5 or so.
The carb is super E and the pipes are kerker with straight baffles. So the cam it originally had was Crane H286 (similar to EV35).
Was it there for a good reason? I don't know. Should I go with smth similar? Probably not (too high RPM-ish for my application), but should I go with smth like Fireball310 (EV27) or even 316, rather than 300?

Get in touch with Woods cams. Tell them what you have and how you ride. Then take their advice. The only problem you will have is getting the smile off of your face!!!!

Here's something to consider, if the bike detonates or diesels with that camshaft, you do not wanna go smaller with the camshaft, you need to really have the heads ccd and figure out true compression and go from there,

Question Curious about your sidecar

You said you run it sometimes...so it must go on and off. What kind of car is it and how hard is it to take on and off?

Old California I sidecar. Looks kinda weird on a Harley
Two clamps on the bottom, two bolts on the top and the damper. 20 min to bolt it on, 10 min to take it off. 2 - 3 hrs of initial setup however

Ditto ., sounds like someone has done some TLC to your motor as porting the heads is not a common occurance or an easy job to do correctly.
I would assume as you have that the comp. ratio has been tweeked also.
Considering the above and your list of installed aftermarket goodies etc., i would definately agree with miacycles and contact the cam suppliers for specific info. re: your application and prefered performance needs .
