Default Torque cones or no torque cones???

I have an 89 FLHS and I am putting on a true dual exhaust system. Heard pros n cons about torque cones anyone have any advice/experiences with them??? Do they really make a difference?
Thanks in advance,
Mike

1990 FLHS here! Are you going to use normal mufflers? If so I am not sure cones will achieve much, if anything.

While I have never tried them I gather they are for use on pipes without baffles.

I for one have tried them and didn't really like them. I felt they kept too much heat in the exhaust valve pocket. I prefer a 1/4" bolt or lolipop in the rear of the pipe.

On a sportster I tried with and with out the cones and honestly I couldn't tell the difference. I eventually got rid of the straight pipes cause I hated the lose of low end torque.

Bikerlaw posted a thread about installing lollipops in his drag pipes. Maybe some useful information for you. https://www.hdforums.com/forum/evo-c...op-update.html

I tested mine on a dyno and can tell you that they do not work.

They create/modify the back pressure that the engine "sees". If you put a bike with straight pipes on the dyno and makes some runs, then hold a screwdriver across the open end of the pipes you will see a positive difference in the torque numbers.
