Default Gas tank question
Is it possible to take a tank off an 01 heritage and put it on a 92 heritage. I realize 01 is efi, if it is possible, how can I make it work?

I was just reading on another thread about gas tanks swaps on a heritage. Might be worth a read. I cant remember if they talked about ur year or not.

I have an '09 tank on my '90 bike, in other words with determination and imagination many things can be made to work, however it wasn't a simple bolt-on. After removing the EFI stuff you can fit a Pingel gas tap and adapter, which do fit straight on. As for the Heritage specific stuff I am not sure.

they should fit are you sure the 01 had efi? also aren't the 01 still split tanks?either way they should interchange , you'll just need to buy a fuel valve aka petcock for the 01 carb model ,I swap my 03 efi to carb just pull all the fuel pump & stuff out of the 01 tank ,maks room for more gas

The Evo Softail has 2 piece split tanks. The twin-cam Softail has a 1 piece tank, so, no doubt the mounting is different.

You will need to rewire all your indicator lights and get an electrical speedo.

Probably get a speedo off an 01 and wire it in.

Sounds like a lot of work to me but it would be very cool if you made it work!!

You will need a wiring diagram off an 01 and your 92 to figure this one out.

Yea I think I'm just going to forget about the whole thing and do some body work and reprint my tank.
