Broken Shift Spring

First make sure you don't have stripped splines on the shifter.

Well out for a ride today with a couple friends and I think the shifter return spring broke. It wouldn't return to center and I had to do it manually to be able to upshift and down shift. Also a lot if play in the shifter that wasn't there before.

Pulling the primary, and transmision was more than I was comfortable getting into, so I had Pro Twin Performance take care of the repair. While they were in there they went with a Baker Drivetrain Anti-Overshift Ratchet Shift Pawl Assembly which means smoother shifts and no more broken shifter shaft springs. Also went with the Baker High Torque Bearing kit. Luckily no damage to the gear set.

Sucks that just 5 months ago I had to replace the inner primary housing along with all the seals...only to have all that pulled again to get into the transmission for the shifter spring...but it's back on the road now.
