Default wheel help!!!!

Ok guys, I know this isn't the wheels section, But I need some help. I got the 40 spoke wheels on my bike, I got a set of 13 spoke cast alloy wheels, been polishing on them for about 2 weeks, went to have them put on, whadaya know, the REAR doesn't do right!!
The pulley bolts in the alloy wheel is smaller that the 40 spoke wheels. Ok, no big deal. I just went and got smaller diameter bolts, well now there is slack in the bolt holes on the pulley .Does the alloy wheels and the steel wheels take a different pulley??

Unless you can find some shouldered bolts to fit you may be able to cut some thin walled tubing to slip on the bolts and slip into your pulley. Copper tubing would be easy to acquire but if that stuff won't fit there is thin walled steel or stainless steel tubing that may work. It would be a bit tricky to do but if the copper tubing fit the hole on the pulley but not the bolt you may be able to drill it to size for the bolt.

I wonder if your alloy wheels are off a Sportster? A pal of mine recently fitted alloys to his bike, to replace his wires, and the rear hub has smaller pulley screws than my big twin. Just a thought.

Is there enough meat to drill and tap to the alloy wheel?

Are you sure you have the wheel the right way around? My laced rear wheel has different sized bolt holes on each side (the pulley side holes are larger than the brake rotor side holes).

I really wouldn't recommend this. The forces involved between the pulley and wheel transmitted through the fasteners are pretty high. You need the proper fasteners and Loctite. I know this the hard way.

Thanks guys...ya know, they were suppose to be off of a dyna, but you know how that goes. I was thinking like megawatt was saying, maybe I am missing some bushings or something, but if there is none, I don't want to be rigging up anything. Drillinmg and tapping is something i'm not going to, little out of my knowledge.
Ungle G, I just seen that before I got on here to check, guess I'll take it back apart just to be sure. I believe I had it right though, because the smaller lip would be the side for the rotor, right?
If nothing else, ill have to buy another wheel and sell this one, but damn, 2 weeks of polishing shot to hell! I'll let ya know what happens..THANKS!

I have to agree with Uncle G's logic; forget my first suggestions.
With all the work you have in it you might seriously consider Schex3e's suggestion.
A machine shop should be able to do it for you and maybe for not too much dough.
Is the pulley in alignment with the trans pulley if you do this? Make sure before you spend more time/money on it.

Figured it out...the wheels are off of a sportster...front is the same, and on the rear, the bolt holes are smaller. They would work, if you get the sportster pulley I guess. So I bought another wheel froma guy I know that came off his 96 fxds, same one as I got.Now I have to polish it up befor I can put it on

Well guys, WTF?? I got another wheel off of a 97 dyna convertible, just like mine, the freakin dude at the shop is telling me this one wont work!!!What side does the belt pully go on? I took 1 bolt out of each side of my bike, pully side and the rotor side and each bolt screwed right into the other wheel! One side of the "lip" where the brearing is,is bigger than the other. Is it possible this dude is a moron and trying to put the pully on the wrong side??
