He probably didn't realise that you can turn the wheel around to get the pulley on Sporty side or Big Twin side.....truth is usually stranger than fiction.
I had mate like that when we worked on a building site...he kept swearing and chucking every other nail away.
I asked him what was up and he said the heads were on the wrong end.
I told him that he was being an idiot...those nails were for the other side of the house!!!!!
Well guys, WTF?? I got another wheel off of a 97 dyna convertible, just like mine, the freakin dude at the shop is telling me this one wont work!!!What side does the belt pully go on? I took 1 bolt out of each side of my bike, pully side and the rotor side and each bolt screwed right into the other wheel! One side of the "lip" where the brearing is,is bigger than the other. Is it possible this dude is a moron and trying to put the pully on the wrong side??

I am in a similar, yet worse, situation. I am trying to put a 2010 sporty wheel on a 91 FXR... should be a piece of cake... not...
Bearings were a problem, got All ***** bearings. Bearing inner spacer was a problem, ordering a spacer tube... the real problem seems to be hub width... the sporty seems to be +.5 (appx)
The holes are never a problem... just take it to a machine shop and trust a pro if they need to be bigger.
I may have to have the machine shop take down the hub .5" or just powdercoat an 11 spoke to match the sporty wheel.
