Like the title says, my gas tank has developed a squeak that is driving me nuts. I torqued the front mount down a bit a bit and it did help a little but still squeaks enough to drive me to drink. (oK, that ain't all bad )
Before I really put the muscle to the bolts on the front tank mount, I thought I better pause and see if the forum minds have a better solution. I am concerned that the rubber grommets on the bracket may give if I torque them down too much.

Thoughts?
Are you positive it is not the front tongue seat connection?
or
The square rubber muffler support inserts at the rear?
I'm 99.997% sure its the gas tank. I push down on it while riding and the squeak goes away. There is a little play going on. I was able to reduce the noise by tightening the bolts on the tank mounting bracket. I just didn't want to over tighten and crush the grommets.
