Default 50k mile service

As im nearing the 50k mile service im thinking about changing the shocks to Progressive heavy duty front springs, and to Progressive adjustable rear shocks. Has anyone used Progressive? Pros, Cons? As im having engine worked done for more torque this winter I don't really have the cash for Shotgun or Legend shocks. Thanks for the input.

Plenty of Progressive owners on HDF! As for your front forks I have recently installed single-rate springs from Race Tech, in both Glide and Sporty, which I suggest will give better results. They are available in various spring rates and their website includes a simple calculator, so you get the correct rate just for you! Better than using a generic spring.

How long have you had them in and how do you like them?

On the Sporty, not long after I bought it. Darned forks sagged so much I was riding on not much more than an inch of travel. Changing the springs was as much to do with restoring travel to sensible levels, also lifting the front end a little. Rides fine - they are springs after all! With new slightly longer shocks my bike is now a Super-not-so-Low, with decent ground clearance!

Too early with my Glide, I also have a set of fabrik8r's modified Intiminators inside. At least ride height is correct, as for the Sporty. So I have higher expectations, but over in Touring his recommended mods (which I have copied) have had great reviews.

Progressive fork springs are a major improvement for the buck. Another example of replacing mediocre HD parts.

Been using Progressive fork springs in my Heritage for 170,000 miles and Progressive shocks for 140,000 miles. Nothing but good things to say about both of them.

If you go with the fork springs, make sure you use the H-D "Screamin' Eagle Performance Heavy" fork oil or equivalent rather than the stock (lighter) fork oil.
