I roll started my '99 cop bike, but the battery was fine. With points you can with less then 12 volts, to bump start a bike. If the battery is stone dead, I don't think bump starting a bike with electronic ignition is gonna work.,,

I had a car once that I tried to roll start several times then was told that it won't start if the battery is dead.
I have rolled mine. Don't ask why I had too though.
The only thing I've ever had a problem roll starting is cars with electric fuel pumps. They'll start, but it may take a little more distance and a higher gear just for the alternator to get things going.
We forget to turn the lights off on our Saturn a lot and roll it all the time. Put 'er in 4th gear and push like crazy.
A little trivia for you old timers here. What automatic transmission could you roll start?

the last ones to push start was about 1965 & had to be up to about 35-40 mph
You could roll start a Powerglide equipped car, but only if it had a rear pump, which was discontinued in favor of a front pump in early-mid 1965. Usually about 20 MPH would do it.
I had a mid 60's slingshot dragster that I ran a rear pump equipped Powerglide in and we used to push start it, so as to cut the weight by not having a starter, generator, or battery.
