Default Manuals?

Can anyone tell me the best approach to get a factory service manual for a 97 FLHTCI?

Also, is this Donnie Petersons unofficial technical guide a wise investment for a newbie?

Thanks in advance.

Never heard of Donnie Petersons guide. Best approach to get the manual is to go buy it. The dealer can order them, you can get them from the online dealers, etc. The parts list is also very helpful.

Go get one from the dealer.
As for a technical guide you are in the middle of the best technical guide you can find.

The people here can answer damn near any question you have.

Get the service manual, first. Then later, if you like , & have the spare change, get Donnie's book. Good data. Donnie was the tech guru in the biker rag, American Iron , for a while. Been building & wrenching on bikes for many years. A lot of knowledge gained over time.
Ride Safe,
Harold

This the technical guide in question http://donnypetersen.com/ the one for Evo's.

I was able to snag a manual off ebay for $40

I am glad to hear the best technical guide is right here.

While I am waiting on the factory manual to arrive, can anyone tell me the crankshaft runout specs in a truing stand?

I was under the impression that I should be looking for .001" or less on the bearing areas, but I get the feeling that the manual says otherwise.
