Default Which charging components are correct?

I've been skulking around here for a few days now reading threads and trying to figure this out for myself.

I recently bought a 98 FLHTCUI and found that the charging system wasn't working.
After doing the tests based on the info I found here, I figured out that the stator is toast.
I've been trying to find what I thought was the correct charging set for it but am unsure at this point.
The service bible says it's a 45amp stator. but I can't find one anywhere. 38amp seams to be the highest.
What is 3 phase? how do I know which one I have?
Please advise. I'm starting to have withdrawals from my sled sitting in the garage.
Thanks.

You can install whichever size "charging system" you like as long as you replace all the same amps. The bigger the better. I went with a cyclelectric system for mine , it is 3 phase.

Here's a link for cycleelectric http://www.cycleelectricinc.com/ may help to clear things up a bit more.
