Buddy has a 90 Elctra Glide. He took the tour-pak off and needs some type of remote antenna. Saw a couple in J&P catalog that are hidden under the fairing. Problem is that the hook up/box is on the middle of the left side of the bike and the coax cable runs to the rear.
Anyone have some recommendations/suggestions on brands to buy or clearly stay away from?

Actually that box should have coax that runs the frame and into the fairing where it plugs into the short connecter just like a car has. Just get rid of that box and all the coax and install the new antenna like you would any other stereo.
If that doesn't suit him, I had a mount for a Street Glide on mine with a shorty antenna that looked pretty OK. But it look better without one.
Harley sells a mount that mounts on the left lower rear bag mount where the two bolts are in the rear. It's for a road glide or Road king, but it will work on a Glide even though the parts guy may say otherwise. If you have a problem geting the part number contact me and I can dig it up for you. I have yet to find a hidden one that works anywhere near a stock one and I believe we've put most of them on customers bike at one time or another!!!

Panz, you do realize we are talking 1990 here, right? I'm afraid the receipt for that sucker is LONG gone. However, I'll do you one better: The instruction sheet. Harley-Davidson Part Number 76191-80 or 76195-80, Rev. 3-84. "AM/FM ANTENNA KIT FLT." The instruction sheet covers 2 part numbers, and I believe that 76191 is the whole kit and 76195 is just the antenna rod itself, which appears to be sold separately as a replacement.

Sorry Doc...but I sure appreciate the info on the instruction sheet. Going to see if it might exist at some remote dealership. Actually found a couple of OEM pieces I needed for my 88 that were sitting on a shelf and all but forgotten. Who knows...might get lucky.
John (miacycles) can you give me the info as well on your part number if you know it?
