Its been awhile since I originally posted the initial problem… just to satisfy any questions anyone may have and to hopefully help someone else out in the future…

I originally replaced the dunlap wide white walls with Metzlelar 880 wide white walls. When I did that, I noticed head shake when I took my hands off the bars at any speed. I took the bike back to where I had the tires replaced and asked them to check the balance on the front tire. They did and all was good. In the interest of safety, I had them see what they could find. The bottom line is it ended up being a list of small issues that compounded into a big one. My neck bearings were loose (the fall away was off). Once tightened up, they found the bearings bad. They also found the right lower rocker out of tolerance so I had them replace both. The front shock wasn't bad, but it was the original shock, so I had them replace it. After they repaired all of that, they put the tire back on and the head shake was still there… but no where near as bad. They replaced the front tire with a new black wall metzelar (no white walls in stock) and the problem went away. So they ordered a new wide white wall from metzelar. Once that came in, they put it on and the head shake came back. They contacted metzelar and the company gave my mechanics some bullshit story that there was nothing wrong with their tires. In the end, the shop put two brand new dunlap wide white walls on (front and back) for free and the head shake is gone and it handles great. The metzelars had over 4000 miles on them when the replaced them both.
Now I know what some may be thinking… I should have just have just insisted on the replacing the tires to begin with and that the shop screwed me by replacing parts that were not bad. Well… The shop called me with every problem they found and practically forced me to come over and look at what they found to verify the part was bad. They did right by me… big time... and I would highly recommend them to anyone for anything. The owner is a retired MSG from the Army and is a straight shooter. If your ever in Newport News VA, and need your bike worked on, look up Absolute Performance Cycles. They are a relatively small shop, but you won't be disappointed.

Thanks for coming back with the resolution. Too many can't be bothered after coming here for help.

Sorry it took so long. I got wrapped up with work, riding, kids football games, soccer, etc, etc…

Not that I'm complaining

It's great that you came back to answer the issue as people with issues search for solutions, find others with the problem, but no solution posted! You did someone a service out there by closing the loop.

this forum needs a thumbs up icon easily accessible.
