Default impact driver kit

There are small handheld impact driver sets widely available.
The kit comes with the handheld impact tool but also a set of 3/8 drive very heavy duty large flat and philips driver bits that are desighned to fit the large type screws you are dealing with. You can use the impact to remove the screw or use the bit and a 3/8 ratchet instead , i personaly would use the impact as you can vary the impact force by how hard you strike it with the hammer etc. For approx. $ 30.00 for the whole kit , its a no brainer for sure.

I just recently got one of these tools on Amazon for about $10.It works very well if directions are followed. But,I replaced all my plugs some time ago when they were only $3 or so.They really need very little snugging as long as the O-ring is good.Yours may be tough to remove if some hamfist thought he was working on a bridge !!

Thanks for the input. I also plan to replace the plugs just as you did. Just need to get the originals off first. I already buggered up the slot a little bit on the one on my '97 trying to get it broke loose.

The MP tool is the best one we use, i have bought 3 or 4 different ones over the years but the MP works - we put a 7 / 16 socket on it and a braker bar than tap the braker bar with a small hammer to shock the cap loose -- johnjzjz

Well, all this talk about lifter screen plug, I had to remove mine too. It's been a number of years since the last time I did remove it.

Took a fat flat blade screwdriver, a small adjustable wrench to help twist, and it came right off. It was clean. Sprayed it out, put a new o-ring on it, and put it back in. Probably will be another ten years before I remove it again.

Yeah.... I know.... I know....
