I always add 2 flats to the front pushrods! try that and see if it is better!
I can't tell you how many times that has been a problem on a evo for me!

I was told by a expert on harley lifters to do that and it has worked everytime!

You need .100" preload in a stock type harley HYD. lifter off of seat!

If not dig deeper!

Depends on what pushrods you have. SE's are 25 TPI (Threads Per Inch), Taper-Lites are 40 TPI. Two flats are different between these two. But, two flats on either isn't that much anyway. I've gone a full turn on the Taper-Lites trying to quiet things before, with no luck btw.

I adjusted them last night and went to 3 full turn and went for a test ride. Didn't even get a half mile down the rode and it was making all kinds of noise again so back to the house.

The instruction's call for 2-1/2 turns past zero lash on the SE pushrod's. I have tried many combinations and still a no go.

Those Screamin Beagle lifters are Jim's under cover, They don't have the best reputation as years ago. If it gets worse when getting the oil hot, going to have to say a lifter isn't staying pumped up. You better check for the cam chest as recommended but would put lifters in it if all looks good

Very true that is why I posted the .100" total movement, often you will just need a little more on the front pushrods, I try to pin point the bad one and do it over and over till It wont work!

I have spent lots of time on a few different bikes in the past trying to quiet down the lifter! just to find out the rod bearings were on there way out!

You could always order new lifters and lifter blocks! Any idea how tight the lifter bore is now?

wrist pin slap?
bent valve?
worn rocker bushings?

I wouldn't go too far with those adjustable push-rods I hear motors don't like that

I always thought the front exhaust eas too loud and that it was going to blow. I quit worrying about it after 40,000 miles of it. 30,000 more miles and a full rebuild and it still sounds like a hammer when hot. I run heavier straight weight oil in the summer to calm it down. 118°F ambient in the summer here. My '79 FLH-80 was never as noisy as my 96 has always been.

It has been over a month but I can FINALLY say IT IS FIXED!!!! I replaced all the lifters, and put new gaskets, and it is back together. It took some time to get all the parts, but when I adjusted the push rods for the second time, it sounds smooth as can be. No valve noise at all, just the sweet sound of come on lets go RIDE!!! I have been dying a little everyday not being able to ride. I cant wait to get back out there, I totally missed out on the beautiful fall weather. We had days that would bring a tear to your eyes and there I was sitting on my ***.

I want to say thank you guys for all the posts on pointing me in the right direction.
