With a high trade-in price you don't give as much of a discount (if any) off the new bike.

Come to me with cash and you would walk away with a good discount because there is fat in the margin but if a good trade-in price seals the deal, you cut back on the discount.
Yes this is correct. Car and bike dealers do this all the time. They will bait people into feeling they are getting a good deal.

Fat Boys seem to garner a bit of a premium. Don't know why, and they aren't my favorite softail, but it is what it is. EVO's are nice, simple, easy to work on engines. You don't need to put much effort into a stock EVO to make it run better.

Don't know what area of the country you're from (hint: update your profile), but geography also has a price.

That being said, I think $6500 is a decent deal, if the bike is in as good a condition as you believe.

I know that's at the lower end of what I'd take for mine. But I don't need to, nor want to sell mine.

So here she is.. I know they paid 7500 for it in trade, I had a buddy show me the paperwork. But 6500 out the door, and as is. All and all I am good with it. Need to change the apes (too tall back and shoulder injury) and foot-boards it is hard for me to shift..

I had doubts about that headlight but it is bright as hell..

She runs really good, getting a little black smoke on start up, takes a while to warm up but good.. Needs brakes adjusted and I need to get rid of those stupid kevlar pads.

Taking a little getting used too nothing like my RG, been a while since I been on a bike with a carb.. Wife and I road last night bike pulls strong..

Bike has:
9.5-1 Compression
JE pistons
Andrews Cams
Crane Cam ignition
S&S quickie rods
S&S Carb

Thats what is on the paper work...

Xlnt!
Enjoy your purchase and if it doesn't blow up in the first week, you're fine! If she pulls strong, you're already half way there. The great thing about these machines is that in the worst case scenario you sell it for roughly what you put into it and in the mean time you had a bike for free.

That is a good looking bike. My gut tells me the bike was crashed at some point. Just a feeling I get when I see a bike with the mods that exist. Not to be a bummer, no worry but did you do a history. The reasons I might suspect are the non stock fender, paint, front end, missing floorboards... Did you get the bags? The supports are there. No biggie but it does beg the question. Just for the heck of it, check it out Could be the owner just liked to spend money but that bike is not stock in any manner. I buy a lot of bikes, just passing it on, things I have learned.
