Why not buy new? They're really not that expensive and you know it will be calibrated correctly and functioning properly......unless you're looking for something for 20 or 30 bucks?
I've been dealing with this on my '88 for a long time. I ended up buying a used panel off an FLH and swapped speedo, but now I have a spare fuel gauge, tach, and bulbs. I don't think you can buy a new speedo.
Speedos for the Softails are still plentiful out there unlike your dressers.
You need a speedo from '91 to '95. They had the reed switch for the turn signal canceler. In '96, the Heritage Softail switched to an electronic speedo, using a sensor on the tranny.
If you can do without the turn signal canceling, then any 4" diameter aftermarket/OEM speedo with a 2240=60MPH ratio can be used on your bike, but you will also have to change the dash cover to the '68-'90 part to get the trip meter reset **** to line up with the hole in the dash cover. You will also have to remember to turn off your turn signals manually.
I went that route because I wanted the looks of the '62 style speedo, but it doesn't come with the reed switch.
My original odometer quit working at about 103,000 miles, too.

Why can't he buy new? When I was looking a while back for one for my 95 Heritage, I found a few different ones......including the original oem. I don't remember all which sites, but I think one was J&P cycle.
My odometer is busted. Where would a person look for a used speedometer other than flea-bay and can anyone tell me which years will fit?
Thanx
If you want OEM, check with your local dealer. They may not have it but they can doa nationwide search. Just give them the part number. I have doen with with a couple of things I needed on my 84 as well as my 88

FYI...J&P is not OEM, and while some of their stuff may work out, the speedos they sell will not last (had 3 friends try different ones and w/in 3K all had to be replaced).
He can discard my post in a matter of a few seconds.....or it may be something he didn"t think was an option and it would help him, or someone else in the same boat
