speedo help
I put a 21" front wheel on my 95' Electra Glide . Does anybody know if I can change the speedo drive to compensate for the taller wheel. I tried to do a little research about the different ratios and I got conflicting and confusing results. Any clarification on this would be much appreciated.
Use a drive that is for a 21" wheel...problem solved.
OR.....measure the circumference of your old wheel and your new one, work the difference out as a percentage (small divided by large x 100 and subtract that number from 100) and then you can compensate as you ride.

running it off of the rear wheel is an interesting idea but that would make for a very long cable . Not quite sure how I would route it . I actually did this once on a rigid bobber , but the speedo was mounted behind the gas tank. Has anyone done this on a dresser?
run the cable up to the speedometer the same way as the original. i moved the speedo out of the way then ran the long cable down and under the bike to the back. its not to difficult. spacers for rear bearings, combined with the new drive must stay the same. i had to cut one spacer to keep the total length the same as oem

The old Softails use the same drive unit and speedometer for both the 16 and 21 in. wheel setups.
