I headed out the other day and it was a hard 14 degrees (old and still stupid). My bike wouldn't start so, I jumped on my wifes sporty. I made it about two miles. I found out real quick that a shorty helmet wont work in that kind of cold. I turned around. That afternoon I bought a full face helmet. I once rode from Myrtle Beach SC to Greensboro NC. It was 13 when I left Myrtle Beach and I don't know what when I arrived in Greensboro. The SC highway patrol stopped me in Bennettsville SC and gave me a sobriety test. They thought that anyone out riding in that kind of cold had to be drunk. I had on a snow suit, hippo hands, a full face helmet with the neck cover, etc.. I really didn't suffer that much. The bike was my only transportation in those days.
TD this ought to make you all giddy and cynical, Feb 12, N GA. this is not snow but 1.5" of pure sleet ice.
This was the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky area last week. I can handle the snow. Don't mind it (would rather not have it), can drive on it etc... Ice, hate it. Stay safe out there.

That is a great story.
As a young buck I would ride in my coveralls, snow boots and gloves w/ full face down to 20 degrees. My high school GF would be pissed at me because her goal was to get out of her parents house in my car and she wouldn't ride the bike at that temp. But 20 degrees was my limit, below that and you were frozen in a mile.
Thanks Crate, Ill drive on snow being I use to live up north but on Ice its too easy to slide off a mountain side. Last week I was leaving work and got about 3 blocks when I hit some ice at 10 mph and slid sideways into on coming traffic. Luckily no one was coming.

So, you didn`t offer anything from that hidden flask?
Just took out the trash and the ice was so thick I had to kick the gate latch to open it and no matter how hard I tried I could not open the lid to the curb trash can. The sleet is coming down harder by the hour.
